How to request files from external users in OneDrive:
Step 1: Select Your Target Folder
Begin by navigating to your OneDrive and selecting the folder you would like the files to be uploaded to. Select 'Request files' from the top menu.
Step 2: Initiate a File Request
A dialog will ask 'What files are you requesting?' Enter a description of the types of files you are expecting. End users will see this message when they receive your file request. Select Next to continue.
Step 3: Share the Request Link
The next screen will display a link you can share yourself or add email addresses and an optional message to send direct messages with the link.
To stop the file request and deactivate the link:
Step 1: Go to the Original Folder
In your OneDrive, navigate to the folder you originally used to make the file request.
Step 2: Access Folder Options
Click on the three dots (...) next to the folder to bring up the folder options menu, then choose 'Manage access.'
Step 3: Deactivate the Request Link
In the section titled 'Links Giving Access,' find the three dots (...) next to your file request link. Click the 'X' and select 'Delete link' to deactivate it.
Important Notes:
- The provided instructions must be performed from the OneDrive web portal, accessible through https://microsoft365.com/
- File requests must be enabled by an administrator if they are not already.
- You will receive an email notification when an external user has uploaded files to you.
